Why hire a licensed and insured Arborist?
We’ve designed the following minimum checklist to help you hire the right tree company.
- Workers Compensation & General Liability Insurance
- Licensed in the city where you reside
- Licensed with the Department of Agriculture (Pesticide applications)
- Certified Arborist
- Will quickly provide references upon request
- A minimum of five years experience in tree care
Licensed arborists abide by the guidelines set forth by the local city forester and regional International Society of Arboriculture guidelines. They have been tested in both book knowledge and hands-on skills to assure that you get what you seek.
Trees require someone with the proper knowledge to give them the best care. From pruning or treatment, you’ll need someone with experience and a proven track record to give your valuable trees what they need in the most cost effective way. One bad prune can literally destroy a tree for the remainder of its life, leading to a less than pleasing look and expensive follow up care or removal.
Tree work is dangerous! Lawsuits may fall back on the homeowner. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to see that who they are hiring is properly licensed and insured. In some cases, pruning, removals and planting must be approved by the City Forester, and not doing so can lead to large financial penalties for the homeowner.
